    Skills & Experience

     Strong computer literacy; comfortable with auction software, Excel, and digital photography equipment

    • Adaptability to new IT processes
    • Experience of marketing systems and online sales methods
    • Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills
    • Effective communicator—calm, polite, and courteous with clients and colleagues
    • Ability to handle and lift cases of wine safely; familiarity with HSE legislation
    • Organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
    • Full-time UK driving license

    Brightwells Ltd is seeking a capable and experienced Plant & Machinery Yard Manager to oversee operations at our busy 40-acre auction site.

    About Us
    Brightwells provides tailored auction services for the Public Sector, the construction and agricultural industries, private individuals, and trade professionals. Privately owned and internationally renowned, we deliver significant financial returns, exceptional quality, and bespoke client experiences.
    About the Role
    As Yard Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and organised management of the intake and dispatch of approximately:
    •    500+ items of plant equipment and HGVs, and
    •    1,500–2,000 lots of small plant and tools
    ...in preparation for 2–3 major online auctions each month.
    This is a hands-on, leadership role requiring operational oversight, people management, and a strong focus on health and safety.

    Key Responsibilities
    •    Ensure full compliance with and continuous improvement of Health & Safety protocols
    •    Lead and motivate a team to achieve operational efficiency
    •    Provide excellent customer service and represent Brightwells professionally on site
    •    Oversee the safe use of telehandlers and forklifts, including staff training and coordination
    •    Maintain detailed and accurate records of all machinery and tool movements
    •    Manage logistical flow with a strong understanding of HGV and transport operations
    •    Apply in-depth knowledge of construction plant and agricultural machinery
    •    Collaborate with other department managers to optimise use of company resources
    •    Support and deliver internal staff training programmes

    What We’re Looking For
    •    Proven leadership experience in a similar operational or yard-based role
    •    Strong working knowledge of plant machinery, HGVs, and auction environments
    •    Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
    •    A proactive, safety-first mindset
    •    Enthusiasm, professionalism, and a hands-on approach
