Showing just 28,576 miles; highly desirable 997.1-generation
Porsche 911 GT3; the legendary 3.6-litre naturally aspirated Mezger flat-six;
six-speed manual gearbox; recorded as Category D insurance loss in 2014;
professionally inspected by Autolign Northampton in 2015 and subsequently
removed from the active Condition Alert Register
Finished in
timeless Basalt Black and showing just 28,576 miles, this highly desirable
997.1-generation Porsche 911 GT3 represents an increasingly rare opportunity to
acquire what many enthusiasts regard as one of the greatest driver's cars ever
produced. First registered in January 2007, it has been in the custody of the
current vendor since October 2017, a period of almost nine
years.
Powered by the legendary
3.6-litre naturally aspirated Mezger flat-six, developing 415bhp and driving the
rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox, the GT3 needs little
introduction among Porsche aficionados. Starting and driving exactly as expected
on site for the purposes of our photography and video, it remains every bit as
engaging as its reputation suggests. Indeed, in all honesty, the temptation was
simply to keep driving it all day.
The history file is
particularly substantial, comprising the original book pack, handbook, 10
service stamps, a large file of supporting invoices, 10 old MOT certificates,
current V5C and MOT valid until October 2026. Most recently the car recieved a
major service by Porsche Centre Portsmouth in October 2025 at a cost of just
over £1,700, with the supporting invoice included within the paperwork, the car
has only covered 103 miles since.
Prospective bidders should
note that the vehicle was recorded as a Category D insurance loss in November
2014. Following repairs, the car was professionally inspected by Autolign
Northampton in June 2015, with the inspection report included within the history
file. Also included is correspondence from HPI confirming that the vehicle has
subsequently been removed from the active Condition Alert Register. The car has
since passed through further ownership and has remained with its current
custodian since 2017.
Beyond the impressive
specification and low mileage, what truly elevates this GT3 is the model itself.
The 997.1 occupies a special place in Porsche history, sitting at the very end
of the analogue era before increasing layers of electronic intervention began to
reshape the driving experience. Built around the narrower-bodied 997 shell and
powered by the race-bred Mezger engine, it delivers a level of mechanical purity
that is becoming increasingly difficult to find in modern performance
cars.
The hydraulic steering is full
of feel, the controls possess a reassuring weight and precision, and the
naturally aspirated flat-six rewards commitment with a frantic rush to its
8,400rpm red line. Unlike later generations, there are no paddle shifters, no
dual-clutch transmission and little standing between driver and machine.
Instead, the GT3 offers a deeply involving experience that demands respect while
rewarding skill in equal measure.
Many enthusiasts consider the
997.1 GT3 to be the sweet spot of the GT3 lineage. Capable of devastating track
performance yet equally at home on a favourite B-road, it combines usability
with a level of driver engagement rarely seen today. As values of analogue
Porsche models continue to strengthen, examples such as this are increasingly
sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Supplied with V5C,
MOT until October 2026, 10 old MOT certificates, 10 service stamps, original
handbook, book pack, extensive invoices, the Autolign inspection report and HPI
correspondence, this low-mileage GT3 presents a compelling opportunity to
acquire one of Stuttgart's finest modern classics.
Showing just 28,576
miles from new and in current ownership since October 2017.
