1978 Austin Morris Mini Clubman

Off the road since 1991; smart interior and lots of originality; period features; four new tyres; 49,000 indicated

This Morris era Mini Clubman has been sitting hidden away for many years. Finished in blue with grey cloth interior, the shell looks basically OK bar the usual Mini areas (front of the floor and sills). One of the appeals is that all the parts are available at a very modest cost so if you are handy with a welder - this looks like a great opportunity.

Showing 49,045 miles there’s no supporting history to substantiate this, but given the number of years its been standing, it could well be genuine. A quick search online shows the last tax was due in December 1991 and the vendor has put the car on SORN and sorted a current V5C.

There are three previous owners listed and under the bonnet resides the proven 1,098cc A-series engine which we have not attempted to start given how long it has been standing, although it does turn over – clearly this Clubman requires a degree of restoration and recommissioning but does roll freely and looks a prime candidate given the prices restored variants are fetching these days.
