1999 Chrysler Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4.0
(TJ)
Ever so cool and utilitarian TJ with 4.0 straight-six
power and manual 'box from 11 year ownership; removable
hardtop
Supplied new in February 1999 by Seaking
Automotive Ltd, Jeep (Chrysler) main dealers of Dover, this Wrangler hails from
the 2nd Generation of this icon, known as the TJ, first introduced to
the UK in late 1996.
This example comes to us
in desirable Sahara spec finished in Green with Camel colour removable hard-top
(there is no soft top present), two-tone Forest green and Camel colour cloth
interior and Camel colour dash/door trim.
The
Sahara also featured wider colour coded wheel arch flares, steel doors,
radio/cassette with four speakers and premium trim material.
Under the bonnet, we also find the popular 190bhp (305Nm of torque)
4.0 litre AMC 242 straight-six engine with the desirable five-speed AX-15 manual
transmission option and of course, four-wheel drive and unlike its predecessor,
coil spring suspension all-round.

89,107 miles this Wrangler has been loved and enjoyed by our vendor for the past
11 years, including seeing him drive it up to us without a hitch from
Swansea.
The history file includes the V5C
revealing seven former owners, the owner’s manual and service booklet
recording nine stamps, the last in 2012 at 71,249 miles plus 10 old MOTs along
with the current, valid until April 2023 which recorded three minor advisories
(battery insecure, slight play in OSF anti-roll bar joint and light switch
sticking). The MOT history also
shows the truck has seen limited use since 2018 during which time its covered
just 2,000 miles.
The file also includes a
selection of bills for parts and works undertaken including paint work to the
front arches, an alloy wheel refurbishment in May 2022, new battery in 2019, new
radiator in 2017, a lube service in 2015, new clutch slave/master cylinder in
2014 plus some older routine service works bills.
Ready to be enjoyed roof on or off these TJ’s always seem to be
