new.
Launched in September 1975 as a replacement
for the legendary E-Type, the Jaguar XJS V12 was a much more modern and
sophisticated car than its glamorous predecessor. Refinement was in a different league to the E-Type and even today
there are few cars this relaxing to drive fast.
And with 291bhp to play
with, the XJS certainly was fast, hitting 60mph in 6.9 seconds on its way to a
top speed of 152mph.The first major facelift came in
1991 with larger rear windows, new rear wings, different lights, and revised
instruments. Build quality also improved with later models receiving a
galvanized body shell.
Supplied new to the
Japanese market in 1991 this splendid V12 coupe benefits from many of the
improvements that were introduced on the post-1990 facelift models and
looks stunning in Catkin Grey metallic, with mushroom hide interior and walnut
trim.
Imported to the UK in 2017, it
shows just 62,289 km (38,704 miles) with four Japanese stamps in the
service book and had a full brake system overhaul shortly after arriving
here.
Presenting well both inside and out, the
interior looks good for its age with just minor wear, the exterior
is also in a remarkably good state and the wheels look to have
benefitted from a recent refurbishment. It has an MOT until September 2024 with
no advisories recorded.
Overall, a gorgeous
example of a true Jaguar legend, not to be missed!
