Description
Rare
sporting version of this unusual classic Vauxhall; one of only 500 made with
upgrades from Aston Martin/Tickford and Irmscher; recently recommissioned
following 20 years in storage; advisory-free MOT; a very cool Eighties classic;
find another one!
The Cavalier Calibre was a special edition of the
Cavalier Mk2c which was styled by Aston Martin/Tickford with a bespoke Irmscher
bodykit, sports suspension and sports exhaust. Other goodies included Recaro
sports seats trimmed in Chicago velour; sports steering wheel; electric windows
and door mirrors; power steering; alloy wheels and a trip computer – pretty cool in
1987!
Based on the SRi 130, the Calibre had a 130bhp 2.0 engine and
5-speed manual gearbox which made it good for 120mph. Only 500 were made, all
finished in Carmine Red, and a bit of Googling leads us to suspect that this car
might be one of only two surviving in roadworthy condition but you will need to
make your own minds up on that score.
First registered in June 1988,
this Calibre shows just three former keepers on the logbook, the current for the
last five years. Prior to our vendor’s ownership the car had been in dry storage
for 20 years before being recommissioned and subsequently put through an MOT in
November last year which it passed with no advisories.
Looking to be in
nice overall condition, a set of Wolfrace 17-inch alloys have been fitted which
add to the car's low and racy stance. Driven very little in our vendor’s
ownership, this rare and sporty Cavalier has been starting promptly and running
well as we have moved it around on site.
This is the first time we have
ever seen one of these mean and moody Calibres and we can’t find any record of
one being sold at auction before so this could be your one and only chance to
bag one!
