Showing 94,375 miles; vendor owned since
2018; reconditioned engine in 2020; repainted approximately three years
ago
First
registered in September 1958, this very attractive Bedford CA Window Van is
finished in cream and fitted with rear bench seating together with two front
seats. Featuring the model's distinctive sliding front doors, it is powered by a
1,600cc petrol engine and is currently showing 94,375 miles.
Introduced by Vauxhall in 1952, the
Bedford CA quickly became one of Britain's most recognizable light commercial
vehicles. Renowned for its practicality, reliability and innovative sliding
front doors, the CA proved popular in a wide variety of roles, from delivery
vans and minibuses to camper conversions and emergency service vehicles.
Remaining in production until 1969, the model became a familiar sight on British
roads and today enjoys a strong following among classic commercial vehicle
enthusiasts.
The
vendor has owned the vehicle since 2018 and, in 2020, commissioned a
reconditioned engine rebuild by Phoenix Engineering of Hereford. While the
engine was removed, the chassis was cleaned and repainted, and a new clutch was
also fitted.
The
van was repainted approximately three years ago, at which time new window
rubbers were installed. Originally fitted with decorative alloy side trim
strips, and they were not refitted following the repaint as the vendor did not
wish to drill new fixing holes. The trim pieces are included and stored in the
rear of the vehicle should the next owner wish to reinstall
them.
The
Bedford has been starting well on site. The vendor advises that the brakes would
benefit from adjustment, although they have been operating satisfactorily around
the site.
